Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that we present to you this list. Writers on the Storm received 907 submissions--outstanding for a first-year-contest--and even more remarkable was how many GOOD scripts there were. We had a LOT of considers and recommends--over 20% of our submissions! Maybe that's because a lot of you guys are Coverage, Ink clients and have been working to develop and hone your scripts. Whatever the reason, a lot of scripts rocked the house!

To everyone on this list, a big congratulations. We will be reading your scripts again in the semifinal round. To all of you folks who didn't make the quarterfinals, don't get discouraged! Sometimes success is just a quick polish or maybe a class or a script analysis away. And to that end, we plan on sending out the mini-analyses on every submission by June 9th. . We will announce the semifinalists June 20th.

I'm totally bummed I didn't make it to the quarter finals, but I guess that's life-- u can't win 'em all.

I am curious about the following items:

a) The genre breakdown of the quarter finalists.

b)If, indeed,ALL the scripts were read. The fact you're taking an additional 20 days to give back the promised mini analysis is certainly questionable. It could be interpreted as 20 days to finish reading the rest of the scripts...

You do understand that your second comment sounds like sour grapes. Do you want a well-reasoned and thought-out analysis, or a brief first impression? I'd choose the latter.

Guys, we will endeavor to get the mini-analyses out sooner. We never promised them by a specific day. Bear in mind we got about 3X more entries than we anticipated, and we want to make sure nobody slips through the cracks abnd everyone gets treated fairly.

Not the case though; just an honest observation.

It makes most sense to do the analysis the minute the reading is completed. And, if ALL the scripts have been read, then presumbly, all the analysis have been completed. The rationale is simple, really.

Having said that, I will say that $35 for a screenplay competition, which includes a mini analysis is a steal, even if the analysis follows 20 days later.
